Miu Miu Launches “Journey of Becoming” Cultural Initiative at Villa 515, Dubai, Celebrating Female Narratives During Ramadan
Miu Miu has inaugurated “Journey of Becoming,” a cultural initiative held at Miu Miu Villa 515 in Dubai, running from March 3 to March 16. Aligned with the Ramadan season, this program combines storytelling, music, poetry, and workshops, designed to create a rich experience centering on themes of identity, memory, and connection.
Supported by DFRE
The initiative, backed by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), transforms Villa 515 into a venue for reflection and engagement. It aims to celebrate female narratives through intimate discussions and artistic performances. Zain Masud has been appointed as the curator, ensuring that the events encourage dialogue and creative expression.
Engaging Workshops and Conversations
The program commenced with an evening of conversation featuring discussion cards intended to stimulate guests’ exploration of personal and cultural themes. Workshops such as “Timeless Botanicals” invite participants to craft postcards using dried flowers, each representing a specific symbolic meaning.
At the heart of this initiative lies the significance of storytelling. “Storytelling Night,” led by Alia Al Shamsi and Manar Al Hinai, aims to uncover memories through various sensory experiences. This session will delve into how childhood experiences profoundly shape adult lives. “A Conversation Night” is another focal point, featuring Butheina Kazim in dialogue with Tunisian filmmaker Erige Sehiri. This conversation will examine women’s journeys in cinema and the role of real-life narratives in influencing filmmaking.
Live Music Performances
The series of events is further enriched by live music performances, with Iraqi singer Rahma Riad scheduled to kick off the musical segment. Each evening promises to evoke emotions related to both the past and the present, allowing guests to partake in a journey of remembrance and reinterpretation.
Culinary Offerings
Villa 515 also presents an all-day dining experience, offering a suhoor-inspired menu crafted by Chef Sarah Aqel, highlighting Middle Eastern and Mediterranean culinary influences. Aqel articulates that her menu reflects a personal journey, intertwining childhood memories with beloved ingredients and her passion for both culinary traditions.
Cultural Dialogue and Artistic Expression
“Journey of Becoming” remains available to the public at Villa 515 until March 16, functioning as a unique platform for cultural dialogue, artistic expression, and communal reflection.
