Khadak and Lila Strengthen Culinary Ties with Exclusive Four-Hands Dining Experience
Dubai’s culinary scene continues to flourish as local restaurants innovate and collaborate, especially in light of recent challenges. Two prominent establishments, Lila and Khadak, have partnered to create an exclusive four-hands dining experience that explores the culinary affinities between Indian and Mexican cuisines.
A Unique Collaboration
Chef Shaw Lash, who originally launched Lila Taqueria on Beach Road in Dubai in 2022, has been at the forefront of this movement. Lila Taqueria, known as the first wood-fired taqueria in Dubai, has established a reputation for authenticity by grinding corn in-house and crafting fresh corn tortillas. This dedication to quality has led to the opening of Lila Molino in Alserkal Avenue and the Tacos Camino food truck in JVC.
Khadak, established in 2024, quickly garnered acclaim for its Indian cuisine, earning the Bib Gourmand award in 2025. Chef Naved Nasir, previously serving as Chef Director at Dishoom in the UK, draws inspiration from Indian street food and traditional recipes, ensuring that nostalgic flavors are preserved in Khadak’s offerings.
A Celebration of Spice and Tradition
The collaboration, dubbed “Khadak x Lila: Two Cultures, One Shared Love of Spice,” features a meticulously curated 9-course menu that pays homage to both culinary traditions. The dishes reflect a deep respect for ingredients, merging elements from both kitchens. Notable offerings include jalapeno tepache panipuri filled with roasted pineapple, kulcha fundido with serrano and poblano chillies, cashew and raisin mole with wood-roasted cauliflower, and churros served with brown butter custard.
The chefs emphasize the importance of these culinary ties, aiming to create a dining experience that resonates with locals and celebrates cultural diversity.
